 Privacy Policy – TCG Scanner

This Privacy Policy explains how the TCG Scanner app for Android ("the app", "we", "us") handles your information. We built the app so that your data stays on your phone: we do not have user accounts, we do not run our own servers and we do not collect, sell or share personal data.

1. Information we do not collect

We do not ask for or collect your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts or any other personal information. The app has no advertising, no analytics and no tracking SDKs.

2. Camera and photos

The app uses your camera only to recognize trading cards and, if you use the grading tool, to take a photo of a card. Card recognition (text and image recognition) runs entirely on your device. Camera frames are analyzed in real time and are never stored or uploaded. Photos you take for grading, or images you pick from your gallery, are processed on your device and are not sent to us or to anyone else.

3. Your collection and settings

Your collection, binders, wishlist, price history, preferences and app settings are stored locally on your device. If Android backup is enabled on your phone, this data may be included in your personal Google backup, which is controlled by Google and your Google account settings. You can export your collection as a CSV file at any time. When you export or share a file or image, you choose where it goes.

4. Card data, prices and images from third-party services

To identify cards and show prices, the app sends search requests (for example a card name, set or number) directly from your device to public card databases, and loads card images from their servers. These services are:

- TCGdex (tcgdex.net), for Pokémon cards

- TCGCSV (tcgcsv.com), a public mirror of TCGplayer card data and prices, and TCGplayer's image server (tcgplayer-cdn.tcgplayer.com)

- Scryfall (scryfall.com)

- YGOPRODeck (ygoprodeck.com)

- Lorcast (lorcast.com)

- OPTCG API (optcgapi.com)

- Frankfurter (frankfurter.dev), for currency exchange rates

Like any website, these services receive your device's IP address and the request made. These requests do not include any personal information from the app. Their use of that information is governed by their own privacy policies.

5. Purchases and subscriptions

Subscriptions are processed by Google Play. We never see or store your payment details. The app receives only the information needed to unlock PRO features, such as whether a subscription is active. Google's privacy policy applies to payments.

6. Ratings and reviews

The app may ask you to rate it using Google Play's in-app review feature. This is handled by Google and we do not receive any personal information from it.

7. Notifications

If you allow notifications, price alerts and collection updates are created on your device from the price data described above. You can turn notifications off at any time in the app or in your Android settings.

8. Data retention and deletion

Because your data is stored on your device, you control it. You can delete individual cards or binders in the app, clear the app's data in Android settings, or uninstall the app to remove all of it. We cannot recover your data for you because we never receive it.

9. Children's privacy

The app is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app does not collect personal information from any user.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the European Union and the United Kingdom, or under the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have rights to access, correct or delete your personal data. Since we do not collect or hold personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete, but you can contact us with any question or request.

11. Security

Data is stored in the app's private storage on your device, protected by Android. Connections to the services listed above use HTTPS.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the effective date. Significant changes will also be announced in the app.
